Tool kit
Bike specific tools
- I personally use a toolkit from SBV containing all necessary tools for our Honda’s and KTM’s
- Ratchet with sockets and extension used to remove any bolt on the bike
- Spindle key for front and rear axle and pinch bolts
- 3⁄8″ Torque wrench adapter
- Set of spanners
- Pin punch to remove brake pin (or use an allen key)
- Phillips and flat head screwdriver
- Tweezers
- Hex head bits
- Rear & front axle sockets
- Multi tool (with pliers, file, knife, saw and tin opener)
- Chain split link breaker
- Spark plug remover
- Chain measuring tool for chain tension (or simply use a cut off piece of measuring tape)
Accessories
- Large, medium and small cable ties
- Duct and electrical tape
- Ratchet strap (for any unforeseen circumstances)
- Para cord
Spare parts
- Bulbs
- O-rings and washers for oil filter change (if necessary)
- Clutch and brake levers
- Universal cable repair kit (for clutch or throttle)
- Or run a spare clutch or throttle cable alongside the working one
- Spark plug
- Inner tubes – you can get away without a rear as the front tube can always be put in the rear tire
Tires
- Light weight tyre pump
- Tire levers and one rim protector – We use Motion pro bead breakers
- Bead buddy – to ease installation
- Stem valve puller – to ease installation of the tube
- Puncture repair kit (tubed or tubeless kit depending on your bike)
Lubes
- Silicone grease for air filter sealing & greasing up the inner tube for installation
- Standard grease, Loctite and copper grease
- Metal epoxy (for sticking metal together)
- Engine oil and WD40
- Chain lube
Camping gear
- Sleeping bag and silk liner – We use Decathlon MT900 for warm weather, and down bags for colder weather. Both accompanied by a liner for easy washing and extra insulation.
- Roll mat – Lightweight
- Tent – Multiple tents based on the type of trip: lightweight alpine tent Black Diamond Mesa or the Vango 350 for comfort
- Stove – MSR Pocket Rocket & JetBoil system
- Camp knife – Any multi function knife will do
- Pillow – Decathlon Forclaz inflatable pillow
- Head torch – Typically use a cheap head torch or my watch (Garmin)
- Para cord – To use as washing line, tie things together or any other appliance
- Chair – Helinox Ground Chair due to small packing size are relatively good comfort
Luggage
We use mostly Enduristan kit due to its waterproofness, lightweight and easy to fit system. Also the system is modular, allowing us to put together the exact kit we need for our trip.
